Counselling for Men

A Life Logic

We understand how hard it can be for a man to function effectively in the current turbulent environment. We offer the opportunity for men to think out loud and speak their mind in a supportive, professional setting. We work with men to facilitate a new perspective using validated methods tailored to each individual.

Beating anxiety & depression

According to Beyond Blue, on average, 1 in 8 men will have depression, and 1 in 5 men will experience anxiety at some stage of their lives. Depression and anxiety can be caused by a number of factors, such as loss of employment, possessions or loved ones. Abuse, trauma and low self-esteem can also be causes of depression, as well as divorce and separation.

Depression and anxiety can lead to insomnia, drug addiction, criminal behaviour, mental disorders, chronic stress, weight loss (or weight gain), loss of employment and relationships, self-harm and even suicide. As mentioned by Beyond Blue, depression is a high-risk factor for suicide, and in Australia, there are approximately 2,200 suicides each year. Eighty per cent are by men – with an average of 5 men taking their lives every single day. Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under the age of 44, significantly exceeding the national road toll.

The good news is that depression, anxiety and suicide can be preventable.
